Act 2 Scene 1

Romeo

Why should I go home now? My parents will hound me anyway for being out late or coming home tomorrow morning. I feel like staying. (Exits)(Benvolio and Mercutio enter)

Benvolio

Romeo! Come back! Where are you going? Romeo!

Mercutio

He’s smart. I bet he went home to bed.

Benvolio

He went this way and jumped the fence. Try to call him Mercutio.

Mercutio

Fine, I’ll try to call him. Romeo! Come here you madman! Just say something and I’ll be happy! Say a word to my gossipy lady Venus! He doesn’t hear me and he’s not moving. He’s playing dead so, I must summon him. I summon you by Rosaline’s blazing eyes, her high forehead, crimson lip, by her elegant foot, unbent leg, and her pulsating thigh and the region that rests there side by side! Come to us!

Benvolio

If he hears you, this will make him mad!

Mercutio

This wont make him mad! He would be mad if some strange thing were raised in his lady’s circle and it stood there until she put it down. You know its true and I’m being completely honest.

Benvolio

Come on, he’s not coming out. He’s blinded by his love so, he should stay out here.

Mercutio

If he’s blinded by his love then, he won’t hit anything. Goodnight Romeo! I’m going home to sleep. I don’t like sleeping outside. Let’s go Benvolio.

Benvolio

Alright, then let’s go. Its pointless to look for him if he doesn’t want to come out. (They exit)

Act 2 Scene 6

(Church, midday. Friar Peter & Romeo)

Friar Peter

May the holy heavens give us their blessings and not bring us solemnity in the future.

Romeo

Amen! No matter how much solemnity comes our way, it cannot cancel out happiness. If you’ll just marry us, a love consuming end can take us whenever it wants.

Friar Peter

Unrestrained glee has a wild end. At the height of the moment they fade away. Slow down with your love or it won’t last. (Juliet enters) Ah there is your lady. You’ll thank me Romeo. (Romeo kisses Juliet)

Juliet

I’ll thank you as well otherwise he’ll give too much. (Kisses Romeo back)

Romeo

Oh Juliet, if you’re as happy as me, let the close air and music of your voice expose the unexpressed joy that we can both get from this date.

Friar Peter

Come on, come on, lets hurry up so, I can marry you two so, you won’t be alone. (They exit)
